How Sharable works
- Pick your files. Drop them in or browse. Everything is uploaded in 2MB chunks, so a big file doesn't restart from zero when the connection stutters.
- Set a username and password. These belong to this one transfer, not to an account. Whoever you send the link to needs both to open it.
- Choose how long it lives. 24 hours, 3 days, a week or a month. When the timer runs out the files are removed and the link stops working.
- Share the link. Send it however you like — WhatsApp, email, a note on paper. Send the password separately, through a different channel.
What we do and don't claim
The transfer runs over HTTPS, downloads need the username and password you set, and files are deleted at the expiry you choose. We don't sell your data, we don't build a profile on you, and we don't feed anything you upload into AI training.
What we won't claim is "100% secure" — nothing on the internet is, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. Files sit on our server until they expire, which means server administrators could technically access them. For genuinely sensitive material — legal documents, financial records, anything you'd be harmed by losing control of — put it in an encrypted archive with its own password before you upload it. That way the file is unreadable to anyone but the person holding your archive password, us included.
A few habits that make this safer
- Split the channels. Send the link on WhatsApp, send the password by phone call. One intercepted message then isn't enough.
- Pick the shortest expiry that works. If they'll download it today, 24 hours is plenty. Long windows are just extra exposure.
- Don't reuse a password you use anywhere else. This is a throwaway pair for one transfer.
- Copy the link immediately. There's no account, so there's no "my transfers" page to recover it from.
Common questions
How large a file can I send?
Up to 1GB in total per transfer, across as many files as you like. The upload is chunked, so large files handle a shaky connection far better than a single POST would.
Do I need an account?
No — no sign-up, no email, no permanent login. The username and password you type belong to that one transfer only.
What if I lose the link?
It's gone. There's no account to look it up from, which is the same property that makes the service anonymous. Copy it the moment the upload finishes.
Can I delete files before they expire?
Choose the shortest expiry that fits and the window closes quickly on its own. If you need something removed sooner, get in touch through Smart Joans Services.
Is there any cost or advertising?
The service is free and currently carries no ads. If that changes it will be Google AdSense only — no third-party ad networks, which are a common route for malicious scripts.
Why did my upload fail?
Usually the connection dropped mid-chunk, or the total exceeded 1GB. Retry from the same screen — and if it keeps failing on a very large file, try sending it in two smaller transfers.
